Fans to lamps, ‘super friendly’ UK couple leave hotel after stealing everything

A shocking incident from Wales, UK, has left a hotel owner in disbelief as a guest couple allegedly decamped with several items from their room. The owner of the Dolphin Hotel in Pembroke Dock, Natalie Newton, accused the duo of stealing items worth 200 pounds during their stay.

The stolen items included appliances like a kettle, an electric fan, luxury towels, lamps, a tea and coffee container, and a charging tower. The 43-year-old owner expressed her disbelief, stating that the guests appeared 'super friendly' during their check-in, despite raising suspicion due to their lack of luggage.

The theft has significantly impacted the functioning of the hotel, rendering the room unrentable until all items are replaced. The losses have accumulated to at least 200 pounds.

The incident adds to the woes of a business already grappling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis. Despite her attempts to contact the couple, Ms Newton has received no response and even their card payment was declined.

The hotel owner has now sought the help of the Dyfed-Powys Police, providing them with CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the culprits. The police have confirmed that inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“Police are said to be questioning 43-year-old Martine Rendell after they found her bank card had been used to check into the hotel,” The Mirror reported.

The couple made multiple trips to the car from the hotel carrying large bags packed full of stuff. The bags appear to have the hotel’s stolen goods/With a big smile towards the CCTV, the couple left with the goods.

Pictures show the couple seeming entirely unperturbed by the CCTV cameras watching them. It is as yet unknown whether they deny the allegation or not. Dyfed-Powys Police said, "We have received a report of theft from a room at the Dolphin Hotel, Pembroke Dock, on Saturday, 19 August. We are investigating the incident."
